Grill for Home Use

We all love delicious foods but not all are fond of the cooking while preparing them can be fun as well. With a proper cooking appliance and tools, we can create a wonderful dish for the whole family to enjoy and for those who often have barbeque parties with family or friends, a grill is a must have in your garden. This piece of equipment may not be a must-have for everyone but seeing the fun of making food and making food for more servings, it is a great addition to have.

Grillers are typically easy to use but not all are convenient which makes it a bit confusing to choose one. For starters, we do think everyone can benefit from a small single grill that can be used to make one to two servings at home. Those powered using small cans of gas or electrically powered are ideal for users who are living in an apartment of houses where it is impossible to cook in the backyard. The electric grill is also safer and cleaner with almost no mess from the fuel.

The drawback is probably on the taste or aroma only since there is no contact with fire here so they may not be as authentic as charcoal or gas burners. The more common option is a gas grill which you can get from various brands and available in various capacities such as Broil King 440 Vs Weber at the same model number. Gas grills are also easy to use but depending on the size, some of them can be used indoors while the variants we just mention should be used outdoors.

Gas grills are also relatively safe and clean but do consider whether they are allowed in your area or not since some places may limit the use of this cooking method. The best thing about a gas grill is the ease of use and convenience since gas is easier to find or even cheaper if you decide to connect it to the natural gas pipe on your house. They are faster to cook and can get pretty hot but, similar to electric grill, there is this lack of smokiness on the food.

The last which is cheapest, most traditional, tastes great but less convenient is using charcoal. Charcoal grill is the most affordable since we will only need to buy an empty vessel to contain the burning charcoal as well as the grill for putting the food. They are authentic and depending on the wood types, can give different aroma to the meals we are cooking. The bad side is they are difficult to light and messy to clean after as the dust can get easily blown everywhere.

About Broil King Baron 440 and 490

Different people may need a different type of grill despite our equal love of barbeque and grilled foods so it is best to shop based on what you want to achieve and what you are willing to put an effort too. Don’t forget the capacity as well because it is faster to cook more at once especially when serving for more people. If you are here then it means this grill is meant for family or to cook several portions together.

Gas grills can heat up fast as well as can go to a pretty high temperature too while still being manageable and easy to clean after. There are plenty to choose from based on the brand or budget to spend and if you have no favorite brand yet, Broil King is one of the most popular options to consider. We are sure many are familiar with this company because they have been around for quite some time and they are pretty well-known for the quality as well so you don’t have to worry about the grill’s performance.

They also carry a huge range of sizes and models which in a glance can look too identical to each other which is why some buyers may be confused about which grill fits their preference the most. In some cases the differences are insignificant so we can go amazing with any of them such as the Broil King Baron 440 and 490. As the name suggests, these grills are close brothers and they are from the same line with 4 burners to help you cook evenly and for more servings.

However, they are not exactly identical because as the higher option, Baron 490 does offer more compared to Baron 440. This is a separate igniter on the right side of the burners which on the previous grill is not present. On the basic important features such as the side burner, both Broil King Baron 440 and 490 are equally equipped with one.

Before checking what these grill can offer, let’s see the unit first and as you can guess, they are identical because these are coming from the same product line and they do have the same dimension as well but, we have to assemble them first before start grilling since none are come like what you see on the sample picture above. Depending on users, we prefer to ask someone to help work on these grills just to save time and make it easier to transfer them.

There are four swiveling plastic wheels on these grills to help with storing and moving them around but these are small wheels and not the smoothest as well. The grill comes with a lid and a large handle made of stainless steel. Most of the grill housing is made of stainless steel or steel while some are plastic too. We have two tables on each side but only one can be folded which is the side without a burner.

Broil King Baron 440 and 490 Cooking Space

When choosing a grill, capacity matters as it decides how many we can work at once or cook together and for Broil King Baron 440 and 490, there is plenty room for making meals in a large batch. Depending on what you are cooking, we can put at least 6 servings of steak and still have room for grilling the veggies. The actual cooking surface is 444 sq. inch for both grills and another 200 sq. inch for the warmer rack.

The warmer rack can be removed as well for cleaning and this is great to make sure the food stays warm before being served, in case you need to wait for the rest of the food to be done cooking. The cooking grate is also made of cast iron that can be installed other way as needed.

Broil King Baron 440 and 490 Burners

As a gas grill, the Broil King Baron 440 and 490 are heating up pretty fast and they are actually equipped with 10,000 BTU burner for the one on the left side of the grill while the main 4 burners itself is rated at 40,000 BTU. It takes a short time to start grilling and we can cook directly as well after preparing the fuel or cleaning the cooking grate. There are several levels of heat that can be adjusted through the knob, including for the side burner.

What sets them apart is that the Baron 490 has a rotisserie burner and this is why you can see a rotisserie attachment above the grill’s sidewall. This rotisserie is cooked using a rear burner which can’t be used together with the main burner. To activate the rear burner, we have to push the knob in between the main burners controls on the right side.

Broil King Baron 440 and 490 Performance

Lastly on the overall performance, both Broil King Baron 440 and 490 are equally amazing. They heat up pretty quick, can reach a very high temperature but also easy to maintain. There are variants that can work with natural gas as well if you prefer so. The rotisserie attachment is convenient if your family loves the recipe but on the overall performance as well as ease to clean, we do think both are the same, especially because they have the same cooking room and side burner.

Broil King Baron 440 Vs 490

Both of these grills are amazing for the convenience and performance. They are also not far different from each other so any of the two will fit most families who often cook together. The difference between Broil King Baron 440 and 490 is only for the addition of rotisserie attachment and a rear burner to cook the dish. This burner can’t be used together with main burners however, so we can only choose one to operate at a time.
